All levels; some dyeing experience helpful

Repurpose class:
Students will use stitch resist techniques to repurpose a shirt and over dye it. Students will learn basic stitches and design principles for a flattering pattern layout. Several completed shirt samples will be available as inspiration. Students will learn how to pull up their threads for good compression, stitch a pattern that intersects, and two methods to place more than one color in their design.

T-shirt and button down shirts are both possibilities. Shirts should be 100 percent cotton, rayon, or linen, have no pattern to begin with, be white or light colored, and be clean and ready to dye. No silk or wool for this class please. A small amount of spandex in the fiber content is not a problem. Be aware that buttons may or may not take dye color. Don’t worry about it before class, matching or contrasting buttons both have design interest.
Students may need to complete wash out at home.
